Agency Description

Supports the well-being of children, youth, and families, especially those who are vulnerable, through child protection and child and youth mental health services. Also offers family support services, guardianship services, adoption, services for children and youth with special needs, and youth justice services. Other provincial services include helplines and after-hours support; resources and referral; funding and benefits programs; and specialized treatment for disabilities, mental health issues, and substance use. Information about the MCFD Complaint Resolution Process is available through local offices or through the website (www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/complaints.index.htm). Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

COVID-19 Update (Oct 20, 2020): Youth currently living in foster care, contracted residential agencies or with relatives through the extended family program, will be able to stay in their placements past their 19th birthday—and youth on Independent Living Agreements and Youth Agreements will continue to receive financial support past their 19th birthday—until March 31, 2021. Contact agency or check website/social media for further changes.
